Shower Curtain Rail |
Shower Curtain RailA shower curtain rail, sometimes known as a shower curtain rod, is the support beam for your shower curtain. That is, the rail is where you attach the shower curtain's hooks so you can open and close the curtain. Rails come in various shapes, sizes and are made of different materials. When buying one, just be sure to measure the space in front of your shower carefully so you won't have to cut the rail down when you bring it home.If you're even semi-handy around the house, you'll be able to install your shower curtain rail with little trouble. Since the average shower is about seventy-two inches high, plan on installing your rail about seventy-six inches off the ground, so that the shower curtain has plenty of room to hang. You might want the rail to be higher, though, if you have tall people in your household; you'll want everyone to be able to clear it without having to duck. And attach your curtain rail extra tightly if you plan to hang towels or other laundry from it at some point. If your shower rail does seem a little loose, you can always purchase shower curtain rail supports, which attach to the bathroom ceiling and to the rod itself; these supports help keep the rail firmly in place. Finally, don't neglect to clean your shower rail regularly. Grime can build on it, and it's not healthy for bathers to breathe that stuff in. |
